Wedding, Baseball, and Norovirus....Oh My!

The last few weeks have been pretty exciting but not all of the good kind of excitement.  First, Webb and I were in Wilmington/Ocean Isle Beach a few weeks ago for a wedding.  An old friend was getting married and since I was in the wedding, we got to enjoy a few evenings out, just the two of us.  Thanks to Aunt Laura who kept Sawyer at the condo with her girls and to Aunt Holly, Granny, and Granddaddy who kept Jackson who stayed behind.  Jackson had a tournament game that he didn't want to miss.  It was an exciting weekend but there was very little time to enjoy the beach or relax.  By Monday, I was trying to catch up on sleep.  And I'm still trying; the stomach virus decided to hit our family last week beginning with victim #1, sweet little Sawyer.  Thankfully, he was back to normal within seven hours.  Webb and I were not so fortunate.  We both woke up, two days later, not feeling so well.  It hit Webb the hardest and both of us needed a few days to regain our strength and return to normal.  And the virus didn't spare Jackson.  He was sick for most of a day.  Yep, Norovirus- 4, White Family-0. "Noro" is still making his rounds with his latest victims being Granny and Granddaddy.

Now, onto the good news.....Jackson was selected to play on the West Raleigh 10U Blue All-Star Team this summer.  He is one happy boy.  It's bittersweet to be leaving several of the Red families that we grew to love over the past year.  There are two families that will move to the Blue with us.  I am hoping that it'll be an exciting summer and a lot easier on Sawyer and me than last summer.  The boys will play to win the state and southeast regional tournaments.  If they advance past Regionals, on to the World Series they will go.

More good news is that the Sand Gnats are still alive in the End Of Season Tournament.  We are in the loser's bracket so we don't have any losses to spare.  Regardless of how things end, we've had a great season and nice run.  We watched the most exciting game of the spring (in our opinion) last week.  I know that I would need Webb or Jackson to help me remember the details but the Gnats won on a risky steal to home.  Jackson had one of his best games, pitching, catching, and hitting.  Needless to say, all of us were so excited that we had a hard time falling asleep that evening.

We are winding down fourth grade.  It's hard to believe that summer is upon us!  The weather is warming up fast and I'm already trying to figure out how to keep Sawyer entertained in the heat.  We've already pulled out the sprinklers, plastic pool, and slip and slide.  We'll find plenty to keep us busy but I also hope to find time to enjoy the more relaxed schedule that only summer allows.
