Snow Happy!!!

Well, it happened!  We finally got some good snow last night.  We couldn't be more thrilled.  This is the first bigger snow that Sawyer was able to enjoy.  The sad part is that Jackson isn't here to enjoy the sledding and snowman making with us.  He left for Virginia on Monday to go skiing with the Edwards family.  The silver lining is that he is enjoying lots of outdoor winter activities like skiing, snowboarding, and tubing.  We miss him, nonetheless.  Today would've been perfect had he been here with us.  Snow days are like sick days minus the sickness.  I feel like we are blessed with a gift when we get snow in this part of NC.

We made a small snowman today. Yep, tiny Frosty had to do because the snow just was too fine to pack this morning. I worked for thirty minutes trying to roll snow and even resorted to packing it into a grocery bag but with little success.  We did lots and lots of sledding.  We went out early and came in long enough for all of us to get short naps.  We headed back out and played until after dark.  The sledding was even better this evening after some melting and refreezing.  We are excited about heading back out in the morning.  Tiny Frosty will disappear by the weekend when temperatures are expected to be in the 60's.  North Carolina weather is the best!  Enjoy the snow y'all!

Indoor and Outdoor Fun

The past few days have been filled with fun.  We ended last week with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge.  It was a short stay but nice.  Jackson had a gift card (thanks Papa and Grandma) and we were all eager to use it.  Sawyer didn't take a nap on the way down but it worked in our favor.  We played at the water park for awhile.  The one pool area that Sawyer enjoyed was contaminated after we had only been there for 30 minutes.  You know what I mean when I say contaminated, right?  That about did me in.  Nothing like seeing poop on the bottom of the pool.  Shortly after, we headed to the room to shower off (with lots of soap;-) and at 7:00, Sawyer was out.  An early bedtime for Sawyer meant that the rest of us got to sit around and do nothing.  It was wonderful!  Jackson and Chase took a few hours to play Shadow Quest.  They almost had as much fun doing that as they did playing at the water park.  During that time, Webb and I enjoyed coffee and Dunkin Donuts.  I'd say it was a great trip.

On the way back, we stopped in Troy.  It definitely broke up the trip which is always good for traveling toddlers.  Again, Sawyer skipped his nap though I caught him nodding off a few times.  I needed a nap by the time I got to Troy and I got one (thanks Webb:).  We got to spend some time with family and enjoy a meal together which was wonderful.  The kids got to spend time walking in the woods, climbing, pushing down dead trees, and jumping the creek.  Some of us did some target shooting, which was also fun.

Bitter temperatures are on the way so before the cold and snow arrived, I wanted to get the boys out to a play area, "Go Play Outside Now" in Garner.  I really think I had more fun than the kids and they had a blast!  Nothing beats the winter blahs like outdoor play and sunshine.  We enjoyed slides, basketball, sand play, swings, sledding, and laser tag.  Sawyer said that "shooting the guns" was his favorite thing.  Though we got to do a little sledding there today, we are praying to wake up to the white stuff in our yard.  It's a real treat around here to see snow.  Maybe the prayers of many local kids will be answered tonight.
