Weekend Update, Kitchen Update

This past weekend was spent at Myrtle Beach and Carolina Beach. "Big Blue" played in the Cal Ripken Experience at Myrtle on Saturday and Sunday. We spent two nights at a resort there and then headed to home sweet home, Carolina Beach, after the tournament wrapped up on Sunday afternoon. We had a nice time and the team finished second in the tournament. Jackson and Sawyer enjoyed playing and hanging out with the kids, as usual. The boys enjoyed the heated pool, lazy river and football on the beach, despite the cooler temperatures. We stayed across the street from Starbucks, which definitely was one highlight of the trip. It was nice to end the trip at CB. That's always more relaxing (and cleaner:) than anywhere else, in my opinion. Oh, and I forgot to take my camera with us on our trip so I'm sharing the few photos that I have on my phone.

Today has been quite exciting! Our countertop dilemmas are over, finally. This has been the biggest challenge of our kitchen remodel. It took me over half a year to make a decision only to find out that what I chose was back ordered. I picked out a new color and was set to place an order when we were told that our original choice was in and that my new choice was back ordered until Spring. Whew! Well, today we are celebrating because the new counters are in and we are pleased. They were worth the wait. We still have the tile to take care of and from the looks of it, now we need to do some painting. It is nice to be close to the end of our project and to feel happy with the finished product.
I'm including a few before and after photos below.

The Zoo

It's  a zoo around here every day yet. Laura and I insist on taking the kids at least once a year.  I think this was our second trip this year.  We spent the night in Troy with Granddaddy and then met up with Holly and Anderson at the zoo the following morning.  It really was fun but we were extra tired after keeping up with all of OUR monkeys.

I'm sure that the subject of nursing came up at some point

The sky was beautiful that day

So peaceful!  I know why Granddaddy loves it there.

We saw the new baby

Holly, Laura, and I were envious of these sleeping lions;-)

This is our favorite exhibit, especially when there are baby Chimps to see.
She really seemed to enjoy the kids.
Watching the interaction between baby and mom.

It's tough to get a good picture of the whole group.

Lions and tigers and dinosaurs, oh my!

Dinos that spray water...even better!

Silly monkeys!  What a tiring but fun day.
