All Good Things Must Come To An End

What heartaches we experienced on Sunday afternoon! West Raleigh 10U Blue made it all the way to the Southeast Regionals then made it all the way to the championship game without a single loss. After the 6th inning in the championship game, the score was tied 2-2. West Raleigh scored three runs in the extra inning and in the bottom of the 7th, things were looking pretty good for us. Sarasota had two outs and we were just one strike away from going to the World Series in Arkansas when Sarasota scored the extra run to win the game. I think we were all in disbelief, and flooded with almost every emotion that one could experience. One of our player's dad compared it to a first heartbreak. Our boys now know what a broken heart feels like; oh, the agony of defeat! Truth is, being undefeated in Ripken play all season also meant that they knew what it felt like to be doing all of the heart breaking. We are all still feeling the sting but we've been able to find the silver lining in it all and as the days have passed since Sunday, Jackson has been able to look at his runner-up trophy once again.

We've got nothing but blessings to count from this summer. It was a great run, full of friendships and memories that will remain with us for a lifetime.

Now, on to enjoy what's left of summer, just another piece of that silver lining.

Not a bad ride- just arriving at hotel room

What a crazy week for Sawyer- two falls in the hotel parking lot, a minor burn and one chocking scare.  Thankfully, no bee stings. Do you see the bee on the top of the lid of his drink?
Look at these awesome towels that cousin Leah made for each boy.  The boys were surprised with their own bag filled with goodies.  The towels were definitely a hit and one of the best gifts in the bags.  Thanks for working so hard, Leah.

Sweet Summertime

We are enjoying summertime here at the White house.  A lot of baseball has been played and we've put some miles on the new van driving back and forth to tournaments but that's not the only thing we've been doing.  We've spent lots of time with friends and family, celebrated birthdays, played at the pool, played at the park, eaten snocones, discovered Jackson's favorite yogurt place, and enjoyed not doing school work everyday!

Jackson is one happy boy right now.  This week, we are heading to Matthews for the Southeast Regionals!  West Raleigh 10U won districts, States, and if we win regionals, we are heading to the world series.  He seems to be having fun and I know that this week is going to be a memorable experience for him.

Jackson is enjoying the summer and we've both enjoyed the break from school work.  I love not having a long "to do" list when I wake up in the mornings.  I'm sure he does too.  He's been great about helping me with chores around here.  I can see that he's really been taking initiative to help Webb and I get more done.

Sawyer is happy whenever we are outside.  It's been a hot summer but he hasn't seemed to care.  Just this morning, he was ready to go outside soon after he climbed out of bed.  He's hard to keep up with at times.  He's talking a lot.  We all get tickled at the things he says.  He has a special way of saying "water" and "Andrew" and it's more of a sound he makes for both.  Water sounds more like "aqua" and Andrew is "da da da da dada" which he says it really fast.  I'm guessing that Bennett is too long for him to say so instead he's giving him the nickname, "BB" which works perfect since that's his initials.  See how smart he is already?!?!  He asks for Cole, Addi, and "BB" on a regular basis and thankfully, we usually see them daily.  He loves riding the four-wheeler, running around naked, playing with bubbles, and anything that involves a "bull-ba-doe" (bulldozer).  He's a typical toddler.

I'm missing our family beach trips a little but we've been blessed with a lot of time together as family, which is one of my favorite things about summer.  Maybe next month, after we win the World Series of course:-)
