Pictures

Here are a few pictures from this week.  I don't have many photos of Jackson from the week.  He and Webb are staying busy with baseball.  Cousin Davis and Leah came over tonight to play and keep us company.  He and Sawyer are so cute together.

One Year

What a difference a year makes!  Sawyer was a few hours old at this time exactly one year ago today.  He was a tiny little thing, only weighing 4 pounds, 3 ounces.  It was such an exciting time but the days that followed were some of the hardest days of my life.  I'm so glad that part is over.  I try not to think about those nights when we'd leave him, uncertain of when we'd get to take him home.  Still, as I reflect back to that evening that he was born, my heart overflows with thankfulness.   Sawyer was meant to be, without a doubt!  There were many years of prayers said by Jackson, asking God for a brother.  All of OUR prayers were heard.

Today was perfect and so special.   Thanks for all of the wonderful gifts and sweet birthday greetings.  Thanks for sharing this day  with us.  Sawyer is one blessed little boy.

I wanted to share a little from the poem that Holly wrote last year before Sawyer was born.  Also, LOTS of pictures follow.

"Long before your heart’s first beat, we longed for you to be,
Fashioned in a ready womb, and part of our family.
And even then God knew you--
He knew your appointed time.
With love He kept you in His heart, while the prayer for you was in mine.
…..He held us as we journeyed through, the struggles, pain, and tears, while we held onto His promise, that He would see us through, and darling He’s done so much more…Evidence of God’s faithfulness, You’ll always bring to mind that though we wait, God’s greatest gifts, are always right on time.”

We can't have a party at home without some mishap.  Webb leaned over the table and right into the cake.  Thankfully, it happened after we had taken pictures.

Summertime!

Summer is in full swing around here as well as baseball.  We had a nice five day break at Carolina Beach around Memorial Day.  When we returned home, we headed straight to West Raleigh for the last two championship baseball games.  The Sand Gnats played a double-header which started at 5:30.  They won the first game against the Knights then had a short little break before playing them again.  The second game was close but the Knights finished on top.  The Sand Gnats finished first in the regular season and second in the end of season tournament.  We enjoyed a great season of baseball around some wonderful players, coaches, and families.

Jackson started practicing with the all-star team the very next day and as I am blogging, the team is practicing for the upcoming tournament this weekend in Siler City.  They practice four days a week (which I think is a bit much) but Webb and Jackson both seem to enjoy it.  I am just glad that we aren't a year-round school.  I'm not sure how some families juggle it all.

We are enjoying the lazy, unscheduled days of summer.  I feel like life goes by so much slower in the summer.  The good days seem to last so long.  We aren't necessarily enjoying the heat but we are making the most of it by going to the pool and hitting the parks that are shaded.

Sawyer is enjoying walking. He's into opening cabinets, drawers, and clearing tables and plates.  He seems to have found a napping schedule and so I've managed to sneak in a few afternoon naps when he goes down.  Summer has so many perks!   There have been a few days lately where I've really appreciated those naps.  Sawyer had an awful case of thrush and was miserable for a few days.  He didn't even seem like the happy little baby that we all know.  Not only was it tiring but it was emotionally draining.  I often forget how wonderful life is when everyone is healthy.  The medicine seems to be working.  We have about a week and half left to go and hopefully it won't ever come back!

Well, that's all for now.  I've included a few pictures from the past two weeks.  Hopefully my camera will actually make it to Jackson's game this weekend.  If so, I'll post pictures next week.

This is what happens when you let your baby hang out with two nine-year-olds.

Calm and mellow after a hot practice:)

This was what Webb brought back from the grocery store while we were at the beach.  Yum-O!
