Wackiness at The White House

I'm not sure if wacky or crazy is the better word to use when describing the past few weeks.  Both words are probably fitting.  To begin with, Poppi took a strike from a copperhead.  200 dollars and 24 hours later, she was just fine.  She did seem quite unhappy, and calm, for the first 24 hours.  I'm sure the meds and TLC was just what she needed.  Oh, and she is still snake hunting so I guess one mean copperhead isn't enough to deter her.  That same day, Sawyer decided to skip his nap and decorate our kitchen drawer instead.  Since then, he's been quite the artist.

Webb and I took a break from the wackiness and spent the night in downtown Wilmington last weekend.  There was a concert that he wanted to attend so he made reservations at a lovely place downtown, Stemmerman's Inn.  It was meant to be an early birthday present for him but it was a treat for me too.  We haven't taken a trip as a couple since Jackson was three!  It was nice to eat out several times over and enjoy adult conversation without the distractions.  I did miss the boys but knew that they were in good hands with Aunt Laura.

There's some bigger news from the White House.  Sawyer is officially riding a bike without training wheels.  He asked Webb to take the training wheels off of his bike and within a matter of minutes, he was riding without assistance.  He's always trying to keep up with his big cousins.  The next big news is that we are now bird owners.  Yes, you read that correctly.  We have a parakeet named Penny.  Penny was found by Jackson in the backyard at Grandaddy's.  Jackson, aka the bird whisperer, was able to get her to hop into a decorative birdcage.  Webb found a used cage on Craigslist and since we haven't been able to find her original owner, we consider her to be sent to Jackson from God:-)  The first day we got her, she wanted to be held constantly.  That's not the case anymore.  I think the wackiness of the White house is getting to her; she's had her share of toddler hands and fingers in her cage.  Thank goodness she doesn't have teeth.

Today we are celebrating Webb's 41st birthday.  We are thankful for him!  Even though it's his birthday, he's going to spend today at the water park with the boys.  Happy Birthday, Webb!

What happens when a toddler skips nap

Sawyer threw a toy into the globe of our living room light.  I found it when I was changing the bulb.
