Fall Update

It's been busy at the White House, as usual, but we are all happy and well.  The little boys and I joined the Flythe gang last week on a trip to Troy and the zoo in Asheboro.  It was a quick trip but we had a nice time.  It also made for a short school week which neither Jackson and I complained about.  I've always gotten spring fever each April but for some reason, this year, I have fall fever.  Thankfully, because we homeschool, we can take a few days off here and there which is something that I always keep in the back of my mind.

The Padres are still playing well.  Their record is 9-2 with one more game until tournament time.  If they win on Saturday, they are tied for first place.  Not only is winning the regular season a great accomplishment but it also insures a good seed in the tournament.  Stay tuned!

Jackson is doing well with school and baseball.  He's loving catching and I enjoy watching him behind the plate (when I'm not chasing Sawyer around West Raleigh).  He's had at least three weekends of  sleepovers with teammates and other kids in the league and let me tell you, Jackson loves sleepovers! I think he likes staying up late and watching movies.  That seems to be the thing that the boys do when they are sleeping over at our house.  Jackson told me that he watched the "Big Mama" movie at one of the sleepovers.  We've been hearing a lot about that movie  lately and hearing Jackson recite lines from the it is quite funny.

Sawyer is still kicking around a ball.  I was going to buy him a cool little truck at Target this week but when I put it on the floor to show him how it worked, he kicked it.  I figured there was no need to waste money on anything that was wasn't a ball.  He has figured out how to throw now and I caught him pretending to throw a little football this morning, almost like he was warming up his arm.  I think he was studying Mike Glennon on the sidelines at last weekend's game.  He's a busy boy.  He jabbers a lot, especially when he's mad.  He may be following in cousin Bennett's footsteps and making up his own "cuss words".  He has his own language, that's for sure, but we are beginning to understand more of what he says.  He has mastered a few words like plane, dog, cat, and cow.  He even has the dog and monkey sounds down pat.  He's probably getting tired of us asking him to perform throughout the day.  Oh yeah, and when he is adamant about something he says "ga"!  He's a happy child and so much fun to have around.  I especially like seeing Jackson with him.  Last night, they were so tired that they fell asleep together.  It just warmed my heart.  They both seem to love each other.

Our weekends have been filled with baseball and football games; I miss the longer days but it's hard not to get excited about fall.   We're enjoying spending nights by the fire pit, s'mores, apple cider and the cooler fall nights.

Well, one very big boy is out on the couch.  I need to get some rest before the smallest one, who is overtired, wakes again. The middle one had Mountain Dew tonight at the Hurricanes game (thanks to a very cool Uncle Christopher;-) so tonight could get interesting:-)
