Fall, Fair, Football &....Elections

Fall update:

The Crusaders finished the season 7-0.  Our second to last regular season game in Southern Pines came down to the last two minutes.  The Crusaders had to come from behind and put six points on the  board in order to win the game and remain undefeated.  Jackson threw a pass to Wesley in the end zone with just a few seconds left on the clock.  It was the most exciting football game that Jackson's played.

The fair came to town last month and we took a few days off from the books at home so that Jackson could learn some other important life skills. He worked a few days at Ragin Cajun, cooking and preparing food with his buddy, Parker.  Sawyer and I took one of those days off so that we could walk around and see all the exhibits with the Bradley family.

The weather has been fantastic lately so we have spent many afternoons at the new park that is across the road.  The splash pad is closed now but the younger kids enjoy the open areas and the paved paths for riding scooters.  There's a large climbing wall for the older ones as well as swings for kids of all ages.

Finally, it's election season and some of us have been pretty consumed.  We've been researching and reading, A LOT.  Even Sawyer has followed along some, as much as a 6 year-old cares to do.  We've also done a lot of praying as a family, not enough, but a lot!  This is when you may wanna stop reading and move right on to the pictures.  These posts are for my boys and so I think it's important to document what's happening around us as well as to leave them with any words of wisdom that I feel they might find useful later in life:-)

A lot has changed over the past 8 years.  The biblical definition of marriage is being redefined, our military has has been reduced, our borders are weak, our current leader has caused much division and strife between races and law enforcement, and many of us are being taxed to death and have been unconstitutionally forced to pay into a ridiculous government healthcare program.  I feel that these issues, among many others, make this election one of the most crucical elections.

Here are some issues that I hope you boys will consider when the time comes for you to vote:

As I type this, our nation is facing a fiscal breaking point which is 20-21 trillion dollars.  Under President Obama, we've gone from $10 trillion to 19 trillion in debt.  I think our economic crisis might be greater than our nation's spiritual crisis, which involves many issues.  This likely will be one of the first issues that the next president will work on in January, 2017.   Who would be better suited to tackle our financial issues?  I believe our nation could use more skilled businessmen and women and less career politicians.

Our Constitution says that no one can "be deprived of life, liberty or property" and our Declaration of Independence proclaims that ALL "are endowed by their Creator" with the inalienable right to life.  Our nation has allowed nearly 60 million abortions to date.  60 million babies in this country alone.  Hillary Clinton has said that a new born baby does not have rights.  Even worse, she believes it's okay to rip a term baby from a mother's womb.  Boys, when given the choice, choose the candidate that believes we should protect the unborn.

The USA must stand with Israel.  Antisemitism is on the rise but I pray that there is always a remanent of people that will support our Jewish friends.  One side of the isle has a record of openly supporting  Israel.  I believe that the USA has been blessed in keeping a good friendship with Israel.   The word says, in the book of Genesis 12:3 "I will bless those who bless you [the great nation God will make out of Abraham] and curse those who curse you."

Consider which candidates aren't openly against our faith and freedoms.  There are stark differences between the opponents in all races.  One side typically represents smaller government (Note: Bigger doesn't always mean better).  Small government means that we the people get to make a choice.  That could mean that we won't be forced to buy a product we don't want.  We won't be forced to send our kids to public schools and we can choose homeschool or private school.  We won't be forced by a government mandate to vaccinate our young baby with a flu vaccine or even be forced to get a vaccine ourselves. Know your rights and continue to study the Constitution.

"Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives." Ronald Reagan

Only Jesus can save us and our hope should always be in him.  No matter who gets elected this week or 20 years from now, JESUS is still KING. But boys, we have work to do.  When you were born in this great country, you inherited a great responsibility... but a privilege.  Get involved.

I pray that your eyes will always be open to what our Heavenly Father is doing, in your lives and in this nation.  Pray to have open eyes to see what God is doing.  Matthew 13:25 says, "But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away."  Listen to the Holy Spirit, the compass that guides you in all things. Pray then pray some more. The people we elect can impact generations, positively and negatively and what happens in America impacts the entire world.

May God continue to bless this great nation and give us wise leaders.
