Welcome Spring

I've let another month slip by without updating.   I think that time is just flying by because we're having so much fun!  We were blessed with a mild winter.  This snow lover usually is disappointed when winter passes without a big snowfall but I can't say that I minded too much this year.  It was nice to be able to get outside more often with the boys, without having to dress the youngest in so many layers.

Spring is here and we welcome it.  Jackson is playing baseball again, a lot of it, I might add.  Sawyer is getting to play outside in the mornings, noon, and until about 7:30 at night.  When they are  happy, mom and dad are happy.

Baseball is going well and Jackson is enjoying the old friendships and few new ones too.  It's his last season as a Sand Gnat.  There were only a few returning 10's from last year so he's gotten a chance to meet new kids.  He is already asking to have a few of them over.  Are you surprised?  I'm certainly not.  He's such an extrovert and he's also 10 and a half, which by the way he informed me today that he's "becoming a man".   He certainly is growing up and wants to be with other boys all of the time.  I realized this week that he's at the age where things are keeping him busy and keeping him away from me, more than ever.  I know this is part of growing up.  It makes me even more appreciative of the time that I played with him ALL day, snuggled him during naps, rocked him in the middle of the night, and all of the times that I let him sleep in the middle:-).  I'll never get that time back again but I have wonderful memories of that time, which doesn't seem like too long ago.
And speaking of changes, last week Jackson pulled out a book and began reading.  This was a first for him.  He's always loved to be read to but never showed interest in reading on his own unless he got a nudge from us.  I am reminded of the progress that he's making and how he's overcoming the negative aspects of dyslexia.

Sawyer has a new hobby.  He loves mud puddles and  rain puddles.  It's so much fun watching him run in them along side of Poppi.  He's also enjoying laps around the woods and relay races with his mom.  When I say, "go" he takes off.  His little legs go so fast that it almost looks like he won't be able to stop.  As a result, he's got skinned up knees but he doesn't let that stop him.  He's quite the entertainer with his running, dancing, and singing.

If you want to find us these days, you don't have to look far.   I'm pretty sure, we'll be outside, come rain or shine.
